Allison Barnhart

Research Analyst

With over two decades of being a professional graphic designer and creative strategist in marketing and even more time as a family history researcher, Allison has learned how both interests require a level of passion for the work, connecting ideas, solving puzzles, and a keen attention to detail In addition to her previous genealogical experience, Allison is trained in OSINT jury selection research analysis for trial teams.

 

She is the author of The Record Keeper: The Unfolding of a Family Secret in the Age of Genetic Genealogy published in 2024 by Legacy Book Press, which was featured in Family Tree Magazine and has given presentations with The Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center, The Greater Cleveland Genealogical Society, The Chicago Genealgoical Society, and the Ohio Genealogical Society’s Ohio Roots Podcast.

In 2006, Allison graduated from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a Visual Communications degree. Allison enjoys life in Ohio with her husband, two children, and spends her free time with family, friends, and their church community. She is thrilled to be on the Choice Plus Research Team!

Nicole Daruszka

Document Retrieval Specialist

Nicole Daruszka is a licensed Florida Title Agent with over 23 years of experience in the title industry. She holds a Paralegal Certificate from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Florida. With a strong background in real estate transactions and a deep understanding of legal documents, she is known for her attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to delivering accurate, efficient service for clients across the nation.

Jaymie Frederick

Genealogist

Jaymie became a police officer in 1979, working in criminal identification. After a move to Montana in 1992, she became a private investigator, working primarily on adoption, missing persons, and heirship cases. During her free time she worked on her family tree, as well as assisting others in their genealogical quests. She was introduced to the unclaimed assets field in 2017 and provides deep genealogical research for Choice Plus.

Jaymie’s comment: “This type of work is so rewarding. Everyday, I have my choice of mysteries to solve, and I am part of a team of the best researchers I have ever had the pleasure of working with.”

Kim Haskitt

Genealogist

Kim combines her past experience and education as a journalist, private investigator, paralegal and genealogist to provide deep genealogy research for Choice Plus.

Kim is a graduate of the Genealogical Research certification program at Boston University. In her spare time, she loves to use genetic (DNA) genealogy to help reunite adoptees with their biological families.

Kim’s comment: “Choice Plus is very intriguing work, you just never know where the day’s research will take you. It’s also wonderful that sometimes when reuniting owners with their property, we end up reuniting families who have lost touch with one another.”

Vicki Jones

Research Analyst

Vicki has 25 years of experience in customer service and Family Law, including 7 years in Program Management and Operations. In her spare time, she enjoys genealogy research and spending time with family.

Vicki’s comment is: “It is a privilege to be a part of the Choice Plus team.”

Cindy LaRosa

Research Analyst

Prior to joining Choice Plus Cindy worked in mortgage processing and thrives on case files that lead her outside the U.S. where an understanding of different cultures and languages are integral to her success in locating people from all over the world.

Cindy’s comment: “Trace work can be so much fun, and so intriguing! I’ve tracked assets back to deposed dictators and drug lords. Every day brings new and fascinating stories. The work is exciting, and the Choice Plus team is something of a second family for me; I’ve never worked with a group with so much heart, love and integrity.”

Ailyn Maristela

Senior Research Analyst

Ailyn joined Choice Plus in 2008 and has over 15 years of experience as a customer service specialist in the medical industry. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from University of Phoenix.

Ailyn’s comment: “I love working for Choice Plus. The team we’ve assembled is truly a special group. The challenge of tracking down the rightful owners of unclaimed property is so rewarding, especially when I find someone who has no idea they have money coming to them.”

Mackenzie Popovich

Senior Research Analyst

Mackenzie graduated with a B.A. in Political theory, where she honed in on the type of critical thinking it takes to problem solve and read in-between the lines when faced with complex information. She then went on to getting certified in Private Investigation where she was taught by some of the best in the Washington state area about skip-tracing and the fundamentals of productive investigation.

Mackenzie’s comment: “I have always had a passion for investigative work and searching for answers to problems. Choice Plus has allowed me to not only do something I am passionate about but also help people in the process. Choice Plus is genuine and diligent in getting the facts right in order to help reunite owners with their property and I am excited to be a part of team the team that does that.”

Adam Shellenhamer

Research Analyst

Adam comes to Choice Plus with nearly a decade of law enforcement experience. As a former deputy coroner, he used his research and genealogy skills to locate families of unclaimed decedents. He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Forensic and Investigative Science from West Virginia University.

Adam spends his free time hiking with his wife and English bull terrier, Darla.

Matthew Shore

Research Analyst

Matthew graduated with a B.A. in American History and an M.A. in History and Culture, coming to Choice Plus from the Garden State (New Jersey). His almost one and half decades-long passion for all things research took him to the Daughters of the American Revolution National Headquarters in Washington D.C., where he worked as a Staff Genealogist, where he used his extensive research/analytical skills to admit members to the society. In addition, he is the founder and owner of Shorely Good History, a Facebook page, established in 2020, dedicated to sharing daily history, genealogical, and biographical facts for all to enjoy. Finally, something that not a lot of people know about Matthew is that he, for the past 12 years, is proficient in speaking Mandarin Chinese.

If Matthew is not spending doing historical research and/ or genealogy, he is probably coming up with a new culinary masterpiece, going on a hike, taking photographs of nature, or spending time with those he loves the most.

 

Heather Singley

Research Analyst

Heather, originally from Louisiana, has made Nashville her home for the past 21 years. In addition to her 20 year real estate career, Heather has a keen interest in genealogy and recently completed the Genealogy Principles course at Boston University, enhancing her knowledge in this area.

Outside of her professional endeavors, she values time spent with her spirited young son, and enjoys engaging with literature, particularly historical fiction and ghost stories. Furthermore, Heather is a classically trained pianist, contributing to her diverse skill set and enriching her personal and family life with music.

Rebekah Unger

Research Analyst

After law school, Rebekah completed a clerkship with a South Carolina circuit court judge. She then worked for fifteen years as a corporate attorney in the real estate legal department of a Fortune 500 company. Rebekah served on the boards of numerous non-profits in her community. She also served as both a Deacon and Elder of her church and chaired several youth group committees. In her free time, she enjoys genealogy and spending time with her husband, two grown sons, and their sweet Labrador, Jasper.
